Next, click the “Add Listing” button (accessed from the specific swap’s page or “Listings” page).  Add a Title, specific details, price, quantity, link to a picture of the item (see the FAQ on linking pictures).  Be sure to select “Tags” for your listings, this will ensure your listing shows up when someone uses the versatile search function.  It will help someone find your listing amongst the hundreds of listings.

How do I get an image to show up on an item I'm selling?

For the time being, ReefTrader doesn't allow users to upload pictures to our site.  All of the photos that you see on listings are photos that have been uploaded to another website and linked to.  Two FREE websites that we have found work and simple to use are imgbox and cubeupload.  Here is how to link to a photo on each of those respective websites:

    imgbox (via PC)

    1. If you don't already have an imgbox account, create one
    2. Sign into your account and click on the Upload Images button
    3. Follow onscreen instructions for uploading photos here
    4. After uploading the photo(s), click on the photo you want to link to
    5. Right click on the image and select "Copy Image Address" and paste it into the URL box for your listing.

    cubeupload (via PC)

    1. If you don't already have an cubeupload account, create one
    2. Sign into your account and you should see a Select Images button on the screen as well as instructions to drag photos onto that screen.

  5. Can I see a list of corals that I have reserved or am selling?
Can I see a list of corals that I have reserved or am selling?

Yes.  From the top menu use the “Swaps” button to select the specific swap you are buying/selling at.  On that swap page, select the “My Reservations” button.  That will provide you with a list of corals you have for sale as well as the corals you have reserved to buy.

  6. Can I search through all the coral listings?
Can I search through all the coral listings?

Yep! While viewing a Swap page, select “Listings” to see a current list of items for sale.  Using the search menu on the left side of the screen allows you to set a wide variety of parameters to sort through the massive amount of listings.  The search works great to help find specific items.

  7. What are buyer and seller ratings?
What are buyer and seller ratings?

We've all had a buyer cancel on us before, and some of us have even had a seller cancel on us.  It's frustrating and some people seem to do it more than others!  ReefTrader incoorperates buyer and seller ratings to help you to determine if a buyer or seller is likely to cancel on you.  Here's how it works:

    Buyer Rating

ReefTrader tracks all of a buyers reservations that get accepted, if the buyer cancels after a reservation has been accepted they lose a point off their buyer rating.  For example, if you have 3 reservation requests accepted and canceled one of them, your buyer rating would be 2/3.  The number 3 is the number of requests that have been accepted, and the number 2 is how many of those reservations have not been canceled by you.

    Seller Rating

Just as buying statistics are tracked for each user, so are selling statistics.  Sellers lose points from their seller rating by canceling reservation requests that they have accepted.  It is also considered canceling a requested reservation if the seller cancels a listing that already has accepted reservations from buyers.  If a seller has a rating of 5/7, it means that they have accepted 7 reservations total and done something to cancel 2 of them.

  8. What is the Wishlist for?
    What is the Wishlist for?

You are able to add corals that you are interested in but don’t want to reserve at the moment to your wishlist.  You can refer back to your wish list at a later time and determine if, at that point, you want to reserve them.
